It is my pleasure to introduce North Coast Medical Training College to you. We are located in a serene environment of Bomani village, Kikambala location of Kilifi County; about ten kilometers from Mtwapa town. The choice of the college location was based on a simply question to ourselves – “Where can our presence have the greatest impact?” With a baseline survey and literature review at the time (2009), the coast region met our criterion.
We are four Directors of the College, all of us with over ten years’ experience in Medical Training and Healthcare Services. With the experience we have had both in Kenya and in other countries in Africa and Europe, where some of us have worked, we have crafted a novel curricula that we are sure will produce graduates, in various critical medical courses, who will have a significant impact in the medical field.
In the short period we have been in existence, from 2012, we have been able to define and refine our vision and mission; and streamlined our management system to support a competency based, student centred training.
We are also happy to note that our educational philosophy, mission and vision as North Coast Medical Training College, are quite in line with the Kenyan National Goals, including educational goals and Vision 2030.
It is also our policy, as a social enterprise, to work with the government, as a partner rather a competitor, in improving health services to communities at the coast and the country at large.
We are happy with the support we have so far received from both the central and the county governments and hope that our partnership with the government will bear fruits in the near future.
